Dehradun International Science & Technology Festival, Science & Technology Premier League among key initiatives to promote scientific awareness 

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday unveiled posters for five major science and technology events aimed at promoting scientific awareness and popularising science across Uttarakhand.

The posters were released during a programme organised at Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) on the occasion of Himalaya Day. The initiatives are being organised by the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST), HESCO and UTU.

The five programmes whose posters were unveiled by the Chief Minister include the 7th Dehradun International Science and Technology Festival (DISTF), Science and Technology Premier League, Seemant Bal Vigyan Congress, Gyanotkarsh and the 21st Uttarakhand State Science Conference.

The programmes are intended to create greater public engagement with science and technology and provide platforms for students, researchers and other stakeholders to participate in scientific activities across the state.

On the occasion, Dhami also released the fifth annual edition of “Vigyan Samprashan,” a magazine dedicated to the popularisation and communication of science.

The programme brought together representatives from the scientific and academic community, along with students, teachers and women participants, underlining the importance of wider public participation in science communication.

Those present included Kishore Upadhyay, Padma Bhushan awardee and noted environmentalist Dr Anil Joshi, UTU Vice-Chancellor Dr Tripta Thakur, UCOST Director General Dr Durgesh Pant, UTU Registrar Dr Rajesh Upadhyay, UCOST Joint Director Dr D.P. Uniyal and DISTF Organising Secretary Dr Kunwar Raj Asthana, among others.

The programme was conducted by Prahlad Thakur, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Rajesh Upadhyay.
